> Multilines

Sometimes, having just one phone line for your business just isn’t enough. An additional line from Digitel Direct can make life much easier and will also mean that you can make sure that every call is answered.

A multiline is a group of telephone lines with one telephone number. The first line is known as the main exchange line, whilst the extra lines are known as auxiliary lines.

The additional line (or auxiliary line) is added to your main exchange telephone line so there’s no need for a new number which means no changes to advertising, marketing material, stationary, etc. Having an auxiliary line added to your existing PSTN (analogue) line means that if a call comes through to an engaged line, the call will simply be passed to the next available line.

There is no limit to how many auxiliary phone lines you can have attached to one telephone number. Multilines are generally connected to a telephone system.

Transferring your Multilines to Digitel Direct takes only 15 working days and is completely free. In joining us you will benefit from substantial savings on your calls as well as discounts on your line rental.

A range of Analogue Select Services are available on your Multiline once you have transferred to Digitel Direct or had new lines installed

Digitel Direct also provides none geographic numbers eg-

What are Non Geographic Numbers?

Non Geographic Numbers (or NGNs as they are known) such as 0845, 0870, 0871 and 0800 numbers are referred to as "non geographic" because they do not have a particular geographic location associated with them. Indeed someone calling them can be diverted to a telephone line in any location in the UK. Effectively they are the opposite of normal (geographic) numbers where the area code tells you almost exactly where the line is located (for example 020 for London, 0151 for Liverpool and 01766 for Porthmadog.

But what is really special about them is that (when called from a normal BT telephone line) calls to 0845 numbers are charged at Local Rates, calls to 0870 numbers are charged at National Rates, calls to 0871 numbers are charged at 10p per minute and calls to 0800 numbers are completely free, no matter where your company is located in the UK, and no matter where the caller is located in the UK. What's more, you can receive revenue every time someone calls you on an 0870 or 0871 number, and you can have calls to an NGN number automatically diverted to any existing UK landline automatically.

What are the benefits of Non Geographic Numbers to my company?
What are the differences between 0800, 0845, 0870 and 0871 numbers?

In all cases, by using an NGN number rather than an "ordinary" geographic number, you can give your company a more professional image. And since you can easily change which "real" telephone number that callers to an NGN number will be connected to, they also give you a great deal of flexibility.

It is also possible to divert multiple Non Geographic Numbers to the same target number. In this way you can use a different NGNs or types of NGNs in you adverts in different publications/media. And since you'll get a monthly report from us showing the number of calls to each different NGN, the length of each call, the area code (and partial telephone number) of each call plus the time each was made, you can accurately track how effective each of your adverts really is.

The benefits of 0800 and 0808 numbers are obvious: Customers or potential customers are far more likely to contact you if they know they won't be charged for the call*. On the negative side, you will have to pay for the cost of each incoming call you receive on an 0800 or 0808 number. The costs of receiving calls is very reasonable indeed, however. Please see the price guide further down the page, but in general you won't need to pay more than 4p per minute** to receive calls, a considerable saving compared to the prices some of our competitors charge.

Again customers are more likely to call you if you use an 0845 number than they would if you had a "normal" (geographic) number, as calls are charged at the standard BT Local Rate* no matter where you or the caller are located. What's more, it does not cost a penny for you to receive calls on a Standard 0845 number.

Despite the benefits of 0845 and 0800 numbers, the majority of businesses large and small opt for 0870 numbers. With these numbers the customer simply pays the standard BT National Rate when calling you from a normal BT line. The main benefit of 0870 numbers is that not only do they give you a very professional, big, national company look, but you can also generate revenue each time someone calls you.

An increasingly popular NGN number for use on technical support lines and recorded information lines and similar types of "information" services are 0871 numbers. The ones we offer simply cost the caller 10p per minute at all times when called from a standard BT line, no matter when they call. They are not really "Premium Rate" numbers (although they may be labeled as such on some telephone service provider's phone bills), so there is no ICSTIS approval paperwork to fill out, and no need to potentially record all calls or play warning messages when someone calls. And you can make up to 4p per minute every time someone calls you or your recorded information service.
